The handsets was manufactured by Samsung too, unlike its predecessor whose hardware was from HTC. Perhaps, some of you are still confused by the term “unlocked”. “Unlocked” here means that Google didn’t sell the Nexus One through any carriers. They sold it directly to the customers through the web.

The intention was to attract people who had been desperately waiting for the latest version of the OS. If Nexus One had been carried by a carrier, you must have had to wait for at least 20 months before you get your OS updated with the latest Android. Besides, at that time, Nexus One had its own charm that Google was sure it would be able to enhance the flowing demands. Nexus one was born as one of the most sophisticated smartphones since the carriers at that time preferred to facilitate mid-class phone only.

Google was overconfident, however. We cannot say that Nexus One was much of a success. People preferred devices sold through a carrier, not only because they would get a discount contract, but also the support from the carrier itself and the manufacturer could make them feel safe. Knowing this, Google, at last, decided to entrust the Nexus S through T-mobile. And it works. Nexus S has become one of the favorable high end Android phones. The subscribers love the discount contract and the 3G networks coverage offered by T-mobile.
